Religious Awakening
In Austin this past week and a half, I had some time to think and I’m glad I did because it opened me up some more to my religion. I’m actually ashamed of myself because I didn’t realize it earlier. Apart from the fact that I called myself a Muslim, I didn’t practice my religion very well. I didn’t even practice the 5 basic pillars of Islam.
After talking to my cousins throughout a certain night of the week I was there, I arrived at a point of guilt. The guilt settled when we spoke about religion. At that point, I knew I hadn’t been a very good muslim; not praying, not remembering God throughout the day, etc. It was time for Fajr (morning prayer) and I even considered not praying, astaghfirullah. I’m glad I came to my senses and prayed because now, I’m trying to be a better Muslim. So, Zain, if you ever come across this, thank you.
