Hair: The Ongoing Struggle
After I woke up at a record 5PM today, I decided to take a nice, refreshing shower because, quite frankly, sleeping in that long coats you in a icky layer of dirt and sweat. Despite being relaxed by the cool shower, I returned to my normal frantic-state because I realized the process of drying my hair, whether it be air-drying, blow-drying, or towel-drying, would make my hair pouf and frizz. It’s very unfortunate that I have very thick hair with unruly curls accompanied by pouf and frizz because it makes my head appear to be ten times larger than it actually is. I acknowledge the fact that I have HAM hair.
I’ve tried different methods of styling the crow’s nest on my head. Those several methods include, but are not limited to straightening it, gelling it down, using products like Frizz-Ease, anti-pouf creme, mousse, hairspray, etc. You get the idea. I’ve lost all faith in styling my hair, or at least making it look presentable. Nick often refers to my hair as a dustball; Josh says it’s very weird that I have the hair texture of a half-black person.
Don’t get me wrong; when styled properly, my hair looks very nice; it’s just the process is very hard. Often, the process takes several hours and the end result is not what I had in mind. Sometimes I’ll leave the house and my hair actually looks nice, but then tragedy strikes. The tragedy: humidity. Damn you, Texas weather. All my efforts go to waste. The two hours I spent straightening the monster or the two hours I spent reinforcing my curly locks with mousse/gel ruined within the five minutes I stand outside waiting for the school bus to arrive.
Why did God have to give me thick, curly hair that is plagued too much volume with too much frizz? WHY?!
