Al Sharpton
I hate people like Al Sharpton and Quanell X. Before you go ahead and call me a racist, hear me out. Prominent black activists (no, I’m not referring to activists like MLK Jr.) today are more concerned with going after the white man. I’m saying that at times it’s not justified and at other times it might be, but the whole goal of being an black activist should be to try and create coexistence.
The video that got me thinking about this:

Thank goodness.
All is good with the world now.
Anyway, I’m addicted. to John Mayer and Flobots at the moment. John Mayer is amazing. Go listen to “No Such Thing” or “Daughters” <3

Music
So far, my summer hasn’t been exciting, but I’ve been listening to a lot of amazing music. It’s not necessarily new, but here are my current favorites:
Flobots – “Handlebars”
Lupe Fiasco – “American Terrorist”
Lupe Fiasco – “Hip-Hop Saved My Life”
M.I.A. – “Paper Planes”
Justin Timberlake – “Losing My Way”
Jadakiss – “Why?”
Will.I.Am – “She’s a Star”
Lil’ Wayne feat. Kanye West – Lollipop (remix)
Eep, I can’t wait until Sonia’s wedding!
UPDATE: I finished two portraits! Yay! (Paula and Jishnu)

Summer Boredom
Summer made me so bored that I stay up to the late hours of the night (technically, the beginning of the new day) just surfing the internet(s). While I was on YouTube, I was listening to some Lupe Fiasco, and discovered that Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli and Mos Def are all practicing Muslims. It sort of surprised me that despite being in the hip-hop industry where the influence of alcohol, drugs, gambling and sex is prevalent, they don’t do any of them. This doesn’t really change much, but I thought it was neat that the hip-hop industry has some Muslims in it, especially my favorite MCs.
Anyway, in my summer boredom, I’m deciding that I want to pursue doing some portraits. I think the portraits I do are going to be in either of two categories: people, in my life, that have influenced me and people I admire. In addition to that, I plan on working on some CX as well.
